Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Preparation – area shall be cleaned and disinfected of any bird debris and droppings prior to installation. Products used shall be non-toxic and safe for surroundings. Contractor shall clean the work area daily and remove all trash from the site and dispose of offsite. Virginia State Police dumpsters shall not to be used. Contractor shall remove or repair any articles that may damage bird netting after installation. 2. Submittals – Bidders should submit samples, catalog cuts, sketches and other descriptive material to fully describe the materials to be used and the installation methods. 3. Installation – Contractor shall install netting and suspensions systems in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Installation technicians shall to be fully skilled with the products use and where applicable, trained and certified by the materials manufacturer. 4. Materials a. Netting – Shall be ultra-violet stabilized polyethylene plastic. Breaking strength shall be a minimum of 50 pounds per strand. Mesh size shall be ¾”, and heavy duty. Color shall be black b. Netting support shall be stainless steel cabling, 5/64”, attached to the existing steel structure. Contactor shall provide stainless steel bolts and girder clips as needed and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Contractor shall provide stainless steel turnbuckles where required for proper tensioning of the cables c. Netting shall be attached to the support structure with stainless rings, properly crimped. d. Contractor shall provide heavy duty zippers in a matching color at each light location or any item/device requiring access. Zippers shall be 3’ long minimum. 5. Inspection a. Contractor shall review installation to verify proper support, and shall ensure that birds are unable to enter the protected areas. Installation shall be able to withstand the effects of wind or rain. 6. Warranty a. Contractor shall warrant the materials and installation to be free from defects for one year from the date of acceptance. Contractor shall guarantee 100% bird exclusion for a period of one year.
