Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies and incidentals to perform wildfire hazard reduction and improved wildlife habitat by hand cutting (Lop and Scatter) standing live and/or dead trees and saplings. Cutting – Lop & Scatter: All trees identified in the contract specifications within the project boundaries shall be completely severed from the stump(s). No live limbs shall be left on the stump of cut trees. All main branches or stems shall be cut from the trunk of the tree to meet scattering requirements. Additional treatment specifications: Cut material will be lopped and scattered so that slash height does not exceed 36” above the ground. Cut stumps shall not exceed 6” in height. Cut material left on site shall not exceed 48” in length. Trees identified as bearing trees, or any tree blazed or tagged to mark the line of any Government survey, shall not be cut or destroyed under penalty of the law. Trees with reference tags will be left uncut. Contractor must have trained employees who can readily maintain chains on site to minimize down time. Dozers must be capable of pulling the chains at a speed sufficient to roll the chain and prevent litter piling. Chain shall not be pulled at a speed in excess of 4 mph. The dozers will be operated with a maximum lateral spacing of 100 feet for this contract. The Government representative has the option of reducing dozer spacing below the minimum specified to accommodate specific terrain or conditions.
