Specifications include, but are not limited to: Given the congregate nature and population served in facilities such as assisted living facilities (ALFs), intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IDs), and nursing facilities (NFs), these facilities are at high risk for COVID-19 (COVID) spreading among their residents. If infected with COVID, these residents—often older adults with underlying medical conditions—are at increased risk for severe illness. To address this issue, the COVID Unified Command Group authorized the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) to use $1.2 Million in CARES Act funding to assist interested ICFs to reduce bed capacity of facilities with 45 licensed beds or more. The funding will provide resources to assist providers to reduce bed capacity while allowing ICFs to remain financially viable.
