Specifications include, but are not limited to: Families First is an evidence-based trauma informed, cognitive, relationship based intensive in-home parent training program that targets at-risk children ages 0-17 and their families. Families First works directly with the children in the home, to address multiple presenting problems such as anger control, hyper activity, depression, poor decision making, etc. The family’s progress is tracked and documented overtime and In-Home Professionals ensure that those they are working with are able to demonstrate and implement the new skills effectively. In-Home Professionals are also available to the family by phone 24/7 to assist with difficult situations for an entire year during and following the intervention should the family need their support and guidance. In-Home Professionals are assigned to work with no more than four families at any one time, thus allowing them to work with their assigned families intensively. The Families First program is the only program in the Western United States that is accredited as a TeachingFamily Model provider per the Teaching Family Association website. The Teaching-Family Association is the only entity in North America that defines and implements standards and reviews procedures related to the actual performance and quality of treatment and delivery systems and produces the Teaching-Family Model.
