Specifications include, but are not limited to: The intent of this Invitation for Bid (hereinafter referred to as IFB) is to establish a non-exclusive term contract for landscaping maintenance at various Dallas County Locations. The Contractor shall use proper mowing equipment standard to the turf industry and maintain lawns to specified heights and cleanliness throughout the year. . Contractor will keep St. Augustine grass to 2.0 inches in height (maximum) during the months of March through June, and 3.5 inches in height (maximum) during the months of July through February. The majority of grass on County property is Bermuda and is generally maintained at a height of 1 ½”, during the months of May through August, and 1.5 inches in height (maximum) during the moths of September through April. • Contract shall mow grass as often as necessary so no more than 1/3 of the leaf blade is removed at any one (1) mowing. This may require mowing every five (5) days during the growing seasons. • The successful Contractor will keep all areas neat and clean while mowing and performing lawn maintenance services. Prior to each mowing, the successful Contractor will remove all debris including, but not limited to, all paper, cans, bottles, bottle caps, gum, cigarettes, sticks, rocks, etc., that could be dangerous or further scatter debris when struck with lawn maintenance equipment. NO debris will be put in on-site trash receptacles. • The Contractor shall mow as close as practical to all fixed objects (but no greater than 30 inches), exercising extreme care not to damage trees, plants, shrubs, or other equipment which are part of the facility. Mowing shall include all grassy areas around each facility. • Contractor shall remove all grass cutting from sidewalks, curbs and pavements after mowing and edging in compliance with City of Dallas Storm Water Prevention Plan. Leaves, grass clipping and other yard waste must never be blown, swept or dumped into storm drain, street, driveways, drainage ditch, waterway, parking lots, or any other conveyance that provides collection and movement of storm water. All grass clippings not blown back into lawn areas should be composed, bagged for disposal at a permitted inert landfill, or applied to an area of land where no possibility of entrance into storm sewer system or a waterway exists. • Excessive grass clippings left on turf areas shall be properly removed from the site. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT MOW DURING PERIODS OF RAIN OR WHENEVER THE POSSIBLILITY OF RUTTING WILL OCCUR. The Contractor shall be held responsible for any rutting, holes and other disfigurement caused by their equipment. Proper care shall be taken to prevent turf scalping. Cutter blades shall remain sharp for proper grass cut. Contractor shall mow in alternate directions where feasible during each mowing on large areas.
