Specifications include, but are not limited to: The sod shall consist of live and growing grass that has been secured from sources where the soil is fertile. The grass must be inspected to verify that the grass is free from all matter that might inhibit the growth, subsistence, and hardiness when transplanted. The sod shall be free from weeds and/or other grass. Care shall always be taken to retain the native soil on the roots during the process of excavating, loading, transporting and unloading. The sod is to be kept moist from the time it is excavated until it is planted. Care shall be taken to wrap the sod blocks in approximately 1’ foot by 2’ foot sections with a minimum of ¾ of one (1”) inch of soil adhering to the roots All sod shall be inspected by the representative of the City at the time of pickup/delivery. Sod which does not conform to the specifications will be subject to rejection. The rejected sod will be returned to the awarded vendor and the awarded vendor will be responsible for any associated return delivery, restocking and/or shipping cost. Awarded vendor shall provide replacement sod in accordance to the specifications within three (3) days of rejection. Vendors will be provided with notice before pickup within twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours. There are no guarantees to the actual quantities to be purchased for pickup/and or delivery. Successful bidding vendor must provide labor and equipment to load the sod onto City vehicles.
