Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Bidding Agency must have proper insurance coverages to cover interpreters while they are on the UNTHSC campus. • All interpreters provided must be certified through the state of Texas or nationally certified. • All interpreters must have undergone a background check and drug screening. • All interpreters must have a flu vaccination and TB screening. • All interpreters must have received training in regard to HIPAA and fully understand their responsibilities under the law. • Contractor must show that they have enough full-time interpreters to cover all our normal volume and any last-minute appointments and schedule changes. A “placement agency” is not acceptable to the needs of UNTHSC. UNTHSC clinics are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Contractor must be able to cover when needed. • Interpreters assigned by Contractor will be required to correctly interpret conversations between medical providers and staff, and the hearing-impaired patient(s). • Contractor will be notified of scheduled appointment dates and times that interpreters will be needed, and interpreter is expected to arrive timely to that appointment and stay as long as interpretation is needed. • Interpretation will include medical terminology as well as assistance in appointment scheduling and financial terms if needed. • Contractor’s agent will be responsible for their own transportation to and from appointments. • Contractor hall include in their billing the name of the patient, name of the clinic and/or provider’s name.
