Specifications include, but are not limited to: Providing peer mentoring services for up to twelve (12) VR customers per month who are blind or visually impaired and enrolled in school as described in Section C. Providing peer mentoring services for transition-age (14-22) VR customers with vision loss. The services must incorporate one-on-one mentoring and group activities/experiences with successful blind adults to help develop and foster core skills in one or more of the following six (6) areas: adjustment to blindness travel independent living skills communication support systems, and vocation. Providing peer mentoring services that include some or all of the five (5) required Pre- Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) categories shown in C. PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION SERVICES In addition to the focus on required Pre-ETS categories mentioned above, the peer mentoring services should be based on a curriculum that is specific to addressing the unique challenges and needs associated with vision impairment and blindness. Ensuring all referrals for services are documented in a form of a Service Authorization (SA) prior to the onset of delivery. Upon receipt of a SA, vendor shall, within seven (7) calendar days notify the TWC counselor as to who the assigned Mentor is and provide a summary of the Mentor’s qualifications, including confirmation that the criminal background check has been performed. Vendor must notify TWC of any results from the background check that indicate previous criminal behavior.
