Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) Accelerate Texas Center (the “Center”) is seeking responses to this request for information (RFI) that include pilot demonstrations and proof of concept for connected and automated transportation technology and services. Its purpose is to facilitate the commercialization and deployment of connected and automated vehicle (CV/AV) technology. This RFI is not limited to any particular or specific vehicle type, and is open to all vehicle types and classes. The Center’s initial focus is identifying and facilitating CV/AV technologies that address safety and mobility problems in Texas, which is expected to double in population by 2050. Among other things, the Center will • provide testing venues for technologies to be initially deployed • facilitate and address applicable marketplace rules and standards essential to the commercialization of any transformative technology. The Center will partner with organizations both public and private, including other universities, that can augment and enhance the thought leadership needed to achieve this outcome. This focus on collaboratively enabling CV/AV is unique. No other organization has a primary mission to commercialize CV/AV technology by demonstrating value and return on investment. Widespread success in this emerging space ultimately represents a multi-billion-dollar business opportunity, with early participants positioned for first-mover advantage.
