Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The Contractor prior to mowing will remove all litter and debris or debris that would be detrimental to the appearance of the area. Removal of debris includes but is not limited to tree branches up to 1” in diameter, leaves, litter, and grass, clippings. Any paper cans, or bottles cut or broken during maintenance of locations shall be completely removed from the site prior to proceeding with the maintenance of the areas. Removal includes, but is not limited to, curb and gutter debris removal. All temporary signage such as garage sales, realty, or job information will be considered trash under the City’s code. Political signage will be removed by the City. B. Trimming around trees, shrubs, and all other obstructions will be performed using mechanical devices and/or hand labor when necessary. Weeds growing in cracks of curbing and concrete shall be removed (this is to include stamped concrete at the end of medians where the end of the concrete meets the street) by contractor. Chemical trimming, with a product such as Glyphosate or equal approved by the City Representative prior to application, may be performed as an alternative to the physical removal or cutting of plant material from areas to be trimmed. All pesticide applications MUST comply with the current Parks and Recreation Department’s Integrated Pest Management program. C. All hard surfaces must be swept or blown clean after each cycle (this is to include stamped concrete at the end of medians where the end of the concrete meets the street). D. Clippings shall not be blown into streets or roadways per City ordinance. E. Contractor’s personnel working in medians and on roadways shall be required to wear a safety orange vest or other safety garment. Care should be taken to avoid conflicts with oncoming traffic. F. If any area is too wet (meaning mowing equipment cannot be used), a string trimmer is to be used or contact City Representative to discuss each situation.
