Specifications include, but are not limited to: Existing reflectors shall be removed from their castings by a method approved by the manufacturer which will not damage the casting. Dirt, dust, oil, grease, rust, moisture or any foreign matter ; The attachment area shall be free of any waste material prior to insertion of the new reflector. The new reflector shall conform both in color and type to the requirements designated ; The reflector shall be inserted into the recessed attachment area and pressed into place until a small amount of adhesive squeezes out on all sides and a bond has been made with the casting. The contractor shall press the reflector into place by the application of a load of between 100 and 150 pounds to assure bonding. Adhesive material shall not be permitted on the reflective surface of the reflector. The pavement surface temperature and the ambient air temperature shall be at or above 45 degrees F at the time of application of the reflector ; Two different size reflectors may be required for the relensing of snowplowable pavement marker castings on this project. One is the current standard size (4”plus or minus ½” x 2” plus or minus ½”) and the other is the previous standard size (4”plus or minus ½” x 1 ¾” plus or minus ½”).
