Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Engineer conducting the patrol events typically assess the following conditions: Vegetation Assessment – Trees, shrubs and groundcover are observed for signs of stress or death. Construction Encroachment – Each ROW is inspected to determine if adjacent property owners or others have erected any structures (temporary or permanent) within maintained gas utility easements. Evidence of Leakage – Physical evidence of leakage will be assessed such as recent excavation, blowing debris from a damage location or desiccated ground surfaces. Presence of Pipeline Markers – Easily visible pipeline markers are installed on each alignment of the higher-pressure gas system. The presence of an adequate number of markers will be determined and locations for supplemental installations of markers will be identified.
