Specifications include, but are not limited to: All physical changes to the building should observe the following overarching principles: · Inviting: From its outdoor space, entryway, reception, lighting, and room design, the McGruder FRC should feel welcoming and comfortable to all of its users. The community should feel invited into the space. · Transparency: Except if privacy is necessary for a specific service, rooms and corridors should allow people to see each other, from inside and outside of classrooms and the outdoors. · Brightness: Natural light access should be prioritized. The building should be well lit inside and outside to increase the feeling of safety and liveliness. · Accessibility: The property and every room should be accessible to all kinds of people, including those living with physical disabilities. Wayfinding and signage should be simple and easy to comprehend. · Arts: Arts should permeate the entire building as a way to connect members of the center with a sense of pride. · Multi-use: Rooms and classes layout should consider the type of service that will be provided therein. It should also consider the flow of people, co-location of services, and adjacency of complementary services
