Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Curb and Gutter (see attached detail SCS-1): The Contractor is to saw-cut, remove and replace all damaged 6” x 30” curb and gutter As requested by the Engineering Department and as marked or painted by the city, and shall match the size and dimensions of the adjoining surfaces. Any disturbed sod shall be replaced with new Bermuda sod unless existing sod is reused and will fully restore the disturbed area. Asphalt repairs between the new curb and old asphalt will be performed by the City. However, the Contractor shall be responsible for keeping this damage to a minimum. Any damage to the asphalt roadway shall be saw-cut by the Contractor so there is a clean edge for asphalt repair by others. Any locations where the existing curb is taller than the standard 6” curb, new 6” curb will be installed and taper at a slope of 1:12 to meet the adjoining curb. All sewer and water lines running beneath the replaced section shall be marked with an engraved 4” high ‘S’ or ‘W’ on the face of curb at the appropriate location. Only the curb and gutter located outside of the ramp area will be paid as per linear foot. Any curb and gutter existing or new must be separated from ramp with expansion joint material. Any new curb and gutter constructed beside a street drain inlet must have an expansion joint within five feet of either side of the drain inlet. Estimated quantity: 5,466 LF. Bid quantity: 5,700 LF. 2. Remove and Replace Sidewalk (SCS-8): Damaged sidewalk will be saw-cut, removed and replaced as marked. Sidewalk adjoining all 10’ new and retrofit handicap ramps to the ERs are included in the price of handicap ramp as shown on the handicap ramp details. If a sidewalk block is partially damaged, the entire block of sidewalk may be replaced rather than cutting and replacing a portion of the damaged block, as directed by the City of Bartlett. Sidewalk inside the driveway apron area will be paid for as driveway apron because this sidewalk is thicker, 6” thick, and more difficult to remove than regular sidewalk. Estimated quantity: 162 LF, Bid quantity: 175 LF. 3. Driveway Gutter: If any address requires new curb and gutter in front of the driveway apron, and the apron is in good condition, the driveway gutter may be replaced by either saw-cutting the gutter below the front edge of the apron lip or by saw-cutting the apron in line with the back of curb and replacing the gutter and lip of the driveway with an expansion joint between the new gutter and the old driveway apron. Any such locations will require a waiver (RL-1, page 19 of this document) from the property owner holding the City of Bartlett and the Contractor harmless for replacement of the drive apron or future damage to the remaining driveway apron. The Contractor shall exercise extreme caution to not damage the remaining driveway and if the Contractor determines that any requested location is a poor candidate for this type of repair, Contractor shall make the engineering inspector aware, so the homeowner may be notified. A photo of each driveway gutter location will be taken prior to saw-cutting and any cracks or chips caused by the removal and replacement shall be repaired by the Contractor, at his/her expense according to Code Enforcement standards for caulking cracks and minor repairs. However the Contractor is NOT responsible for replacing the entire apron if cracks or chips occur. All incidentals to complete this work are included in the unit price including saw-cutting, removal, installation, joint material, sod, caulk, etc. This item is paid for by the Linear Foot. If the driveway gutter can be replaced without cutting the driveway (i.e. (1) if the entire drive apron is going to be removed and replaced, (2) or if a joint between gutter and apron already exists, etc.) the drive gutter will be considered curb and gutter and paid for under that item. Estimated quantity: 119 LF, Bid quantity: 150 LF
