Specifications include, but are not limited to: 5.1 The contractorissolely responsible for the pickup,marketing, andsellingor recycling all lead acid batteries collected at the HHW facility. Moreover, the successful bidder is solely responsible for the storing and disposing of the batteries in the event that he/she is unable to sell/recycle the batteriesin a timely manner. All batteries are to be processed orsent for processing as recyclables and guaranteed to be returned through commerce for reuse. Landfilling orincineration of non-contaminated collected recyclables is not permitted underthis contract. Any costs incurred for the disposal of non-recyclables or residuals will be the responsibilityof the contractor. 5.2 The contractor shall not export batteries or recycled materials outside of the US without written approval from the City of Knoxville. 5.3 The contactor shall be available to haul batteries Monday through Friday in a prompt and timely fashion. This shall be done at the discretion of the City, either on a regular schedule or an on-call basis. All phone calls from the City to the successful bidder must be returned within 48 hours (holidays and weekends excluded). 5.4 The City will not consider allowing for an annual change of payment for increases in the cost of fuel, and the contractor should factor potential fuel increases into the bid. 5.5 Proposer shall provide appropriate empty containers, closing instructions, and other necessary shipping supplies for segregation by type, safe storage and transport delivered to the HHW facility for City staff to use in packing
