Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Greenville is requesting bids from qualified contractors to construct the Greenville Zoo’s new lion night house, meerkat exhibit, and adjacent fire access road. The Lion House structure will be two stories, the bottom floor shall be 770 SF consisting of restrooms (male / female / family), storage, and janitorial room; the top floor shall be 1,390 SF consisting of four lion holding rooms, a keeper aisle, and shifting room. The structure will also include a rooftop deck, upper plaza, and mezzanine level for animal management. The meerkat exhibit will consist of a 120 SF utility building and an exhibit yard. This work shall also include an adjacent public access plaza. The total site work is approximately 975 SY. Additionally, the work shall include the construction of a new heavy-duty asphalt fire access road with 6” water line leading from Washington Street to the zoo interior to provide emergency access and water. This road is approximately 740’. The contractor chosen to complete the work will be responsible for providing all materials and labor needed to complete the project. The contractor will be responsible for all utility coordination and subcontracted work. The contractor will be working in a highly visible, public location, and must adhere to the standards set by the city. The contractor will not be responsible for working with or providing safety for the animals but will be expected to review clearance and safety requirements with the owner. It is the contractor’s responsibility to visit the site and review all construction plans.
