Specifications include, but are not limited to: 6.1Turf:6.1.1Mow turf and trim weekly, not to exceed 5" for fescue grassesin height6.1.2Turf to be cut to a height of 2.5”-3”for Bermudas.6.1.3In addition to this schedule the turf shall be mowed if needed.6.1.4Fertilize four times per year with slow release fertilizer. 6.1.4.1March –Complete fertilizer for grass type, per soil test6.1.4.2May –Complete fertilizer for grass type, per soil test 6.1.4.3July –Complete fertilizer for grass type, per soil test 6.1.4.4September –Complete fertilizer for grass type, per soil test 6.1.5Fire ant control shall be applied twice per year,depending on product used.6.1.6All turf shall be monitored weekly for insects and diseases. Any sightings shall be addressed promptly.6.1.7Spot treat all active fire ant mounds.6.1.8Remove all heavy clippings after mowing to avoid clumping on turf.6.1.9Remove all debris (including trash) weekly.6.1.10Aerate all Bermuda turf areas once per year by May 1and fescueareas by November 1.6.1.11After mowing or weed eating, blow any grass clippings off of roads, monuments,and flat markers.6.2Bed Maintenance:6.2.1All plant beds are to be free of weeds at all times.6.2.2Cut back all perennials (if area has any) prior to mulching annually.6.2.3All beds are to be mulched by March 1stwith long leaf pine needles or double hammered mulch that are free of debris.6.2.4All beds are to be maintained with a 2”-4” layer of mulch at all times.6.2.5All beds shall be maintained with a consistency of mulch in depth and type.6.2.6All beds shall be monitored weekly for insects and diseases.6.2.7Insect and disease control is the responsibility of the contractor.6.2.8Mulch/pine needles arethe responsibility of the contractor. 6.3Trees: 6.3.1Pruning shall follow proper horticultural procedures. 6.3.2Any area with shrubs/trees around a Primary ID sign, directional sign or traffic sign shall be pruned at any time the shrubs/trees impair vision of the sign.6.3.3Tree “rings” shall be kept free of ant mounds.6.3.4Maintain a clear zone of 6’-7’ from ground level on large deciduous trees.6.3.5No trees (i.e., Crape Myrtles) shall be “cropped” off at the tops.6.3.6Remove all dead limbs as they occur.6.3.7Monitor trees for insects and diseases.6.3.8Insect and disease control is the responsibility of the contractor.6.3.9All trees are to be mulched by March 1st withlong leaf pine needlesor double hammered mulchthat are free of debris.6.3.10All trees are to be maintained with a 2”-4”layer of mulch at all times.6.3.11All trees shall be maintained with a consistency of mulch in depth and type.6.3.12Mulch/pine needles arethe responsibility of the contractor.6.3.13Fertilize annually with a complete fertilizer.6.3.14Trees that die or are damaged due to natural causes (see notes) shall be properly removed, and disposed of by the contractor at the expense of the City of Rock Hill, based on an inspection by both parties. The contractor at the expense of the City shall then plant a replacement tree(s). 6.3.15Trees that die or are damaged due to neglect (see notes) shall be properly removed, disposed of, and a new tree(s) planted at the expense of the Contractor, based on an inspection by the City of Rock Hill and the Contractor.6.3.16Trees shall be properly staked to promote proper growth and overall form. Staked trees shall be firmly secured but allow movement. Monitor weekly. Do not allow girdling and remove stakes once trees are established.6.3.17Cut the growth in the wooded area at Forest Hills twice, once by April 30and September 30.
