Specifications include, but are not limited to: Part 1: Intensive In-Home Services Intensive In-Home Intervention Services are time limited clinical interventions predominantly provided within the home and community environment of the identified child. Services are designed to serve children and adolescents under the age of 21. In-Home Interventions are behavioral, psychological, and psychosocial in orientation. They are multi-faceted and include a variety of Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services (RBHS) designed to prevent utilization of more restrictive residential services. Rates for these services are determined by South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Services are child centered and have a family focus. Services have a holistic perspective. This would include the childs family, community and peer group. Assessment of needs and treatment planning are strength based and involve a partnership with the child and family. In-home Interventions should be based on evidence-based, family-centered interventions. Providers are expected to demonstrate treatment fidelity with respect of use of evidence based interventions used with client/families. Services are designed to defuse any crises that threaten the childs stability within the home environment. The child, family members, and other key individuals in the childs environment learn to evaluate the nature of the crisis, as well as to anticipate and defuse crises and thus reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Planned interventions assist the family to develop relationships with naturally occurring community networks that support positive adaptation and facilitate the childs adjustments with schools, peers, and community activities. In-Home Interventions are intended to affect the following outcomes for the child and his/her family: 1. Keep families together by preventing the unnecessary placement of an identified child by the juvenile justice system. 2. Prevent a child who is at risk of coming in contact with or already involved in the juvenile justice system from further penetration into the system. 3. Prevent disruption of the childs home environment by strengthening parent-child and sibling relationships. 4. Empower the parents to positively direct their children by improving child management strategies that encourage accountability and facilitate consistency. 5. Promote reunification of the child back in a family. 6. Ensure the childs safety and protection within his/her home environment. In-Home Interventions are implemented using an array of RBHS Services as designated by SCDJJ.
