Specifications include, but are not limited to: • After receiving the Optometrist’s prescription, the selected vendor will have five working days to deliver eyeglasses. • The selected vendor will provide no more than three (3) different male and three (3) different female frame styles. There will be no deviation from these frame styles unless approved in advanced by the Medical Program Director or Administrator of Healthcare Services. • The selected vendor will provide either single or bi-focal plastic lenses that meet the jail/prison security restrictions. There will be no deviation from this type of lens unless approved in advance by the Medical Program Director or Administrator of Healthcare Services. • Contact Lenses will be dispensed only if medically necessary • Transition lenses are not allowed unless accompanied by a medical diagnosis • The selected vendor must be in compliance with all license/certification/registration as required by the State of Rhode Island. • The selected vendor must comply with all confidentiality and HIPAA rules and regulations as they pertain to optician services. • Three sample frames (for men and for women – total of six sample frames) must accompany your response. • Cost of delivery to/from the Rhode Island Department of Corrections. • A secure messaging system in order to send prescriptions using acceptable encryption practices.
