Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Block Island Housing Board (BIHB) is seeking a Rhode Island General Contractor to oversee construction of a five (5) house subdivision on Block Island to be known as “Cherry Hill Lane. The five proposed houses are of two designs. Houses 1 and 2 are one-story two-bedroom ranch style homes, to be build either slab-on-grade or on full basements depending on budget. Houses 3, 4, and 5 are Cape-style 1-1/2 story 3-bedroom homes to be built on full foundations. The houses have been designed for efficient and economical construction, combined with good quality, low maintenance, and energy efficiency. The first RFP is for all site and infrastructure work as specified in Appendix A, to include development and construction of roadways, street access, drainage, wells, underground utility services, on-site wastewater treatment system (OWTS), installation of five foundations, and all final grading and landscaping. The second RFP is for the the construction of five (5) houses, either in accordance with the plans and specifications as per Appendix B, or as a Design/Build alternative as specified in Alternative Bid proposals. The successful bidder for this component will serve as General Contractor (GC) for the entire project, and will be responsible for liaison between the contractor/s and BIHB, and for coordination of the site work and infrastructure, and construction of the houses.
