Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Clinical and Translational Science Institute Biomedical Informatics Core has been using the OpenSpecimen application from Krishagni, LLC for the past 6 years. The OpenSpecimen platform has been integrated into the support infrastructure for CTSI operations, the Department and Divisions, along with individual investigator labs for biospecimen management. Additional functionality provided by the optional plugins for OpenSpecimen have been utilized for synchronization of REDCap and OpenSpecimen for research data. A one-time additional cost for a custom workflow management software plug-in is included to enhance the capabilities of the software to provide specimen processing workflows. The time and personnel training already invested in OpenSpecimen has produced operational efficiencies for the labs and biobanks utilizing this software across the health sciences. The total transitional costs likely incurred by switching products exceed $200k and are cost prohibitive. A transition would be unreasonable given the costs to support the current system for the software contract is $30,000 per year and the implementation is completed for multiple labs. Future annual maintenance of the new plugin will only cost $5,000 annually with a total cost of $35,000 for the enterprise license and workflow plugin together. Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification.
