Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project will provide redundancy to the existing air handling units (AHU’s) serving the Alkek Building (AHU’s 7-1, 7-2, 7-3, 7-4, 7-5, 7-6, & 7-7) via a fan array. All internal components will be replaced, and the airflow on each unit will be changed from a “blow-through� to a “draw-through� configuration. While out of service, the units will also receive an anti-microbial treatment. Four temporary AHU’s will be installed on the level 8 roof, and will be used to supply the hospital’s HVAC system while each unit is retrofitted. Temporary ductworks, return fan and piping will be installed on both level 8 and roof. Some existing equipment will be relocated during the construction. Steel erection will be required to provide structural support for the temporary units, ductwork and equipment. Temporary ductwork will enter the building through existing louvered openings, and will feed each AHU as they are taken out of service one at a time.
