These sales are sold per Item by unit, harvested timber will be sold by being scaled at the receiving mill by WEIGHT by the ton.

Contract Period of Performance:
*Purchaser (s) will be issued a time restricted contract from date of sale with special terms as follow. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the Northern Long- Eared Bat Myotis septentrionalis as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. All tree felling operations are restricted by federal law and must be completed by 30 May 2026. There will be no exception or extensions to this contract to allow for additional time due to military uses.
Item # one (1) Blocks (A, B, & C) all clearcut harvests and Item # two (2) Blocks (D) a clearcut harvest, (E, F, G, H, & I) all thinning harvests – All tree felling, skidding, processing, hauling, demobilization, chipping and site repair work if any as directed shall be complete by close of business 30 May 2026.
ATTENANCE AT THE PRE-BID TOUR IS REQUIRED Friday 17 October 2025 BEGINNING AT 9:00 a.m.
Sealed bids will be accepted until 1:00 p.m. THURSDAY 30 October 2025 by the Acquisition, Management, and Disposal Section, Real Estate Office, on site at Fort Pickett, and then publicly opened and announced.
All sale areas are outside of streamside management zones. All timber for harvest is designated standing timber contained within the defined sale area boundaries. Harvest operations and associated work shall comply with the State of Virginia Forestry Best Management Practices for Water Quality technical manual July 2025 (Version) available at: https://dof.virginia.gov/wp-content/uploads/VAs-Forestry-BMPs-for-WQ-Technical-Manual.pdf?x15979.. No trees will be harvested within the SMZs. The sale area is located west of U.S. Rt. 46 near the boat launch at the Pickett Reservoir Recreational Area. All indications are that military metal contamination will be negligible, if any.
