Specifications include, but are not limited to: This work will require the contractor to provide a crew and bucket truck, as needed, for the pruning of trees due to preventative maintenance, structural pruning, or storm damage. In the event of storm damage there will be a response time of no more than 48 hours. Tree removal services, as needed, to also include stump grinding on removed trees. --For trees taller than 30 feet, an occasional dead branch up to 1 inch in diameter may remain in the canopy. --For trees shorter than 30 feet, an occasional dead branch up to ½ inch in diameter may remain in the canopy. --Branches interfering or hindering the healthy growth of the tree shall be removed. --Any branch that may be partly dead, yet have a good healthy lateral branch between the dead part and the base of no less than 1/3 (one-third) the diameter of the parent limb, shall be removed. ; 1. When the work requires stump removal or stump grinding, the following specifications apply: --The stump and major roots shall be removed or ground out to a depth of at least 8 inches below the existing grade. --All grindings and debris shall be removed from the hole. --Screened topsoil shall be placed in the hole and leveled slightly higher than the existing grade (approximately one inch) to allow for settling of the soil. --Stumps shall be removed or ground out, excavated and re-filled with screened topsoil on the same day to prevent leaving holes in the ground which are a hazard. --On rare occasions and only if necessary, areas of stump and root removal or grinding may be covered with plywood and marked with cones and caution tape if left unfinished overnight.
