Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall provide labor, material, and equipment for bird control services at Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission facilities. The intent of the contract is to repel and/or reduce the population of nuisance birds at the facilities. Other animals shall not be harmed by the program. Control programs shall include one or more of the following items as requirements are identified and requested by the Commission: A. Chemical Control The Commission may request proposals from the Contractor for chemical control programs. The Contractor will be required to provide all labor, material, and equipment for these programs including, but not limited to, ladders and/or other lift equipment for accessing bait stations and fallen birds. 1. Chemical Control - Initial Service The initial service shall occur within the first month of the program and shall consist of four visits to each facility – one pre-baiting service and three chemical baiting services. Place untreated bait on the first visit. Approximately one week later, initiate the chemical control on the second visit. The third and fourth site visits shall follow at approximately one-week intervals. Complete the initial service in month #1 of the contract. Remove fallen birds as needed throughout the initial service period. 2. Chemical Control - Follow-Up Service Service the baiting areas/stations on a monthly basis after month #1 of the program. Replace or refill baits as needed and remove fallen birds. B. Mechanical Control The Commission may request proposals from the Contractor for the installation of mechanical deterrents including, but not limited to, netting and spikes. The Contractor will be required to provide all labor, material, and equipment for these programs including, but not limited to, ladders and/or other lift equipment for accessing deterrentinstallation areas and fallen birds.
