Specifications include, but are not limited to: Transportation of natural gas is managed through an underground pipeline system and installed/maintained by the utility company that owns this asset. The charges for gas transportation is regulated by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) and gas tariffs are approved by the commission. Gas tariffs are classified or 'scheduled' by the amount of gas used by the entity and the purpose of use (residential, commercial, or industrial.) Proposals to change transportation tariffs are offered by the utility and approved/disapproved by the PUC. In the case of IUP, there is only one pipeline that services the university. The company that owns this Pipeline is Peoples Natural Gas.
