Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Demolish structures in such a manner as to avoid hazards to persons and property, interference with the use of adjacent buildings and interruptions of free passage to and from said buildings. B. DUST CONTROL In order to prevent the spreading of dust during demolition, the work must be kept thoroughly wet down by providing water and the necessary connections. Escalated dust control is required on all demolition projects to achieve full suppression of on-site dust. If the Contractor uses water from the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA), all such water used shall be paid for by the Contractor at the established current meter rates that apply and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the agency or authority governing the use of the same. All costs associated with the above referenced matter shall be included in the lump sum prices bid for the various items in the corresponding Bid Agreement. C. Demolish and remove completely all buildings, garages, structures, vaults, sheds, storage bins, exterior stairwells, bollards, steps, stoops, canopies, foundations, interior and exterior cyclone fencing, retaining walls, various pipe railings, various concrete structures, miscellaneous debris, and other construction to a plane two feet below the surrounding ground elevation, including all vaults, foundations, window wells and pits associated with the buildings that might be located in the sidewalk or street area. All columns and structures shall be removed to two feet below surrounding grade. Floor slabs and below grade footers and foundations will remain. Slabs to remain in place shall be broken up into pieces no larger than 24”x 24”. D. Demolish masonry walls in small sections. Remove individually and carefully lower structural steel, cast iron and heavy timber framing members. E. Remove, regardless of elevation, all floor construction over basements or cellars. Remove interior piers and partition walls to basement level in all buildings. F. Remove wood partitions, stairways, and furnaces, piping apparatus, water tanks and miscellaneous debris. G. If the ground floor is of wood construction, the flooring joists and/or sleepers shall be removed. In such buildings where the ground floor is other than wood and has space under the floor, the floor shall be removed. Where the ground floor is of “slab on ground” construction, such slab shall remain. All equipment pits, vats, tanks, sumps and like belowthe-floor depressions shall be removed. H. All existing debris and miscellaneous articles in the buildings are to be disposed of properly by the Contractor. All refrigeration units shall be properly discharged, and disposed of in accordance with Federal regulations. All labor and disposal fees associated with the removal and disposal of these items shall be included in the lump sum prices bid for the various items of work in the corresponding Bid Agreement. I.
