Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Remove and replace concrete curb, where directed on the project plans. New curb shall be set to the proposed elevations given on the project plans or as directed by the Engineer. In general, curb limits shall be as shown on the project plan or as required for curb ramp construction. If there is an existing curb joint within 3 feet of the proposed limits, then the limit of curb shall be extended to the existing joint. Concrete curb shall be constructed using PennDOT Class AA Concrete which is placed on top of a prepared, compacted subgrade. 2. Curb ramps shall be installed where directed on the project plans. In general, the new curb ramps are to be constructed to the lines and grades shown on the project plans. Upon construction, the new curb ramps must comply with all ADA requirements, as described on the project plans and in the project specifications. Should the contractor fail to construct the curb ramps in a manner which conforms to these requirements, the contractor may be required to remove and reconstruct the curb ramps at the contractors own expense. Each new curb ramp shall include a detectable warning surface, placed as indicated on the project plans and having Federal Color No. 20109. Handicapped ramps shall be constructed using 4” thick PennDOT Class AA Concrete, which is placed on top of a compacted 6” thick AASHTO No. 57 Coarse Aggregate subbase. Cheek walls for curb ramps shall be considered to be the same as concrete curb with regard to construction, measurement and payment. 3. Relocate or replace signage as indicated on the plans. 4. Install pavement markings as indicated on the plans.
