Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1 Firewood. All firewood must be: A. Natural wood, non-treated natural wood power poles and kiln dried wood. Presto-style logs, pressure-treated wood, treated-power poles, milled lumber, planed wood, manufacture wood, and any other forms of non-natural, or treated wood are not acceptable. B. Kiln dried, free of rot and mold, and dry with a moisture content of less than 12%, verifiable by end grain testing with a digital moisture meter of OPRD’s choice. OPRD may refuse any pallet when mold or rot is found or that is found to have wood that exceeds the 12% moisture reading. 2.2 Packaging. Firewood must be provided in bundles. Each bundle must: A. Be no less than 0.75 cubic foot in volume, tightly packed with minimal air space between pieces; B. Contain pieces of firewood with mixed sizes that are no more than 18 inches in length, no shorter than 16 inches; and no more than six inches in diameter and no less than three inches in diameter; C. Contain at least three pieces of six-inch diameter firewood; and contain at least 5 pieces of wood; and D. Be securely bound with twine, rubber bands, or minimal shrink-wrapping to prevent the bundle from losing wood when handled.
