The Contractor will provide helicopter, fuel truck and driver where needed, and highly experienced pilot to fly, in addition to the pilot, 2 ODFW employees across the front seat who will be counting elk and determining the number of cows, calves and bulls in each herd. The search for elk will occur in select areas over forested lands with clear cuts, agricultural lands, and natural openings from sea level to approximately 3000 feet elevation. The pilot will need to keep elk herds that are spotted in openings in the forest and on agricultural lands from going into the trees by circling overhead, passing back and forth in front of them or hovering between the elk and the timber. Flights are typically 1-2 hours in duration.
