Specifications include, but are not limited to: The variety of sod will be based on the location and the specific needs of the project. Varieties commonly used on campus are ‘Astro” Bermuda, Zoysia, Buffalo grass and Fescue. The Landscape and Grounds department will notify the contractor as to the estimated square footage needed and request such as small rolls, large rolls or slabs for each a specific project. The sod should have a minimum of ½ inch of soil and should be green, healthy and practically weed-free. Sod will be inspected prior to installation by a representative of the Landscape and Grounds department. The Landscape and Grounds department reserves the right to refuse any sod that does not meet University standards. The sod should be “cut in” with no overlapping seams or gaps. Once sod has been installed, it should be rolled and the Landscape and Grounds department notified to inspect the completed project.
