Specifications include, but are not limited to: 11. Mowing Specifications: 11.1. While the anticipated months of service are March through November, the start and end months may vary depending on weather and site conditions. Each area shall be serviced completely at the specified frequency during the months that services are utilized. 11.2. Properties shall be mowed “as needed”, on average, every fourteen (14) days. 11.3. Properties listed as Heavy Duty Rotary Mower will still be mowed “as needed”, on an anticipated average of every thirty days (30), but do to growing conditions may be longer. Normal mowing equipment may be used by contractor, but due to the length of mowing intervals, a heavy duty rotary mower may be used. 11.4. Mowing height shall be determined by seasonal weather condition, higher in hot, dry times and lower in wet, cooler times. Bagging is not required, however removal of excess clippings is necessary. Grass clippings shall not remain on paved surfaces such as roadways, sidewalks, curbs and gutters. Any such clippings shall be blown back onto the turf area. Blowing clippings into the street is not acceptable. When possible, mower discharges should be directed in a way to not discharge onto streets, tree wells, landscape beds, or facility. 11.5. String-line trimming will be required around all obstacles. Blade edging of curbs and walkways shall be necessary every mowing. Use of a string line trimmer for edging purposes is will not be accepted. Use of a string line trimmer to “mow” an area is not acceptable. 11.6. Damage to trees, maintained plant material, and irrigation systems is not acceptable. 11.7. Vegetation growing through or in any brick, stamped concrete, or concrete within or adjacent to any medians or streetscaped being serviced shall be treated with herbicide or removed with string trimmer at time of each mowing. 11.8. Litter removal from grounds must be completed prior to each mowing. 11.9. Mowing of camping and day-use sites at Arcadia Lake properties must be serviced, whether vacant or occupied. 11.10. Maintain tree wells free of weeds and grass. 12. Bed Maintenance & Tree Well Specifications: 12.1. While the anticipated months of service are March through November, the start and end months may vary depending on weather and site conditions. Each area shall be serviced completely at the specified frequency during the months that services are required. 12.2. Each area shall be serviced on an as needed basis, on average, every fourteen (14) days. 12.3. Each area shall be serviced completely within 24 hours of being mowed, if the area is designated to be mowed. 12.4. Maintain bed areas free of weeds, volunteer tree seedlings, trash, and other litter. 12.5. Spreading type plants should be pruned to avoid overhanging onto street, sidewalk, or parking area. 12.6. Shrubs and bushes shall be pruned to ensure good structure and shape. 12.7. Maintain coloratus to a maximum height of 4”. 12.8. Remove any dead plant material, except for trees. 12.9. Cut back ornamental grasses, roses, sedum, coneflower and similar perennials during the first service month of the year. 12.10. Remove any plant material, dirt, or other debris that has collected along the median curbs. 12.11. Maintain tree wells free of weeds and grass. 12.12. The contractor is responsible for selecting the weed control method or methods to meet the required results. Removal by hand or hand-tool, spot spraying with herbicide, and treating with pre-emergent are acceptable methods of weed control. The contractor must select a weed removal method that will not damage the irrigation system within the beds to be maintained. Any other method shall be approved by the City’s representative prior to use. 12.13. Kill any vegetation growing up through the brick, concrete, or stamped concrete throughout the median. 12.14. For Streetscape Areas: Kill any weeds growing up through or around sidewalk areas, pavers, curbs and gutters, to include all areas between curb and building.
