Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4.2.1. The contractor shall thoroughly clean the bearing to remove all lube, dirt, metal particles and other contaminants. The bearings shall be cleaned utilizing solvent, steam cleaning or other non-destructive method. Abrasive cleaning is not permitted. 4.2.2. The contractor shall completely disassemble the bearing. All components shall be retained in their respective configuration when possible so as to be re-assembled in the same manner. Additional cleaning shall be performed as necessary. 4.2.3. The contractor shall visually inspect all components for cracks, excessive wear and other defects, under magnification if necessary. Obviously defective components shall be rejected. Suspect components shall be subject to MagnaFlux or other nondestructive inspection procedures to determine condition. e.g. MPI 4.2.4. Any evidence of bearing overheating shall be cause for immediate rejection. No further reclamation shall be required. The reason for rejection of ANY bearing shall be noted on the Bearing Reclamation Form 4.2.5. Any evidence of a spun bearing shall be cause for immediate rejection even if dimensionally and otherwise within specification. This includes bearing inner race moving or slipping around the axle, or outer race rotating within its cartridge. No further reclamation shall be required. The reason for rejection of ANY bearing shall be noted on the Bearing Reclamation Form
