Specifications include, but are not limited to: purchase and installation of a vehicle counting system in the destinations properties managed by the department across the state of North Dakota. The intention of the upgrade is to enable continuous data collection to a cloud-based server to establish hourly breakdowns to identify patterns of usage of each property as well as establish accurate visitor counts. Other data the Department is interested in collecting includes frequency of use for the annual permit, parks visited per permit, and visitor residence. Since the entry fee to most NDPRD properties is based on a vehicle entrance pass, the Department is exploring license plate reading technology to gather this data and provide meaningful insight for future management decisions.
