Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Durham Marriott and Durham Convention Center (DCC) share a Loading Dock accessed off Chapel Hill Street in downtown Durham. The Durham Convention Center has a Pre-Function Corridor (PFC) used as a staging area outside the Ball Rooms and Meeting Rooms. In both spaces, the sprayed-on fireproofing applied to the structure and underside of the metal roof deck when the Facility was originally constructed, is failing. There have been instances of delamination and fracture several times over the last 15 years. In 2008, a major renovation to the DCC corrected approx. 80% of the failing material. This Project is to complete the repair on the remaining 20%. The Work includes: a) Investigation of the existing fireproofing in both the Loading Dock and Pre-Function Corridor to establish the location and extent of failing material, and b) The systematic removal of FAILING fireproofing material, and c) Application of new sprayed-on fireproofing material in a thickness necessary to obtain a 2-hour fire rating.
