Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.1 Work Included: Tuckpointing, patching, and brick replacement at masonry walls and parapets where needed. 1.2 Submittals: Submittals shall be reviewed and approved prior to the start of project. 1.3 Environmental Conditions: Material installation shall proceed only when weather conditions are in compliance with manufacturer's recommendations for installation and no precipitation is imminent. Materials installed during adverse weather conditions shall be subject to rejection including removal and replacement. PART 2- PRODUCTS 2.1 Materials (ATTACHMENT G) 2.1.1 Portland Cement: Shall conform to ASTM C150. 2.1.2 Hydrated Lime: Shall be Type S, meeting ASTM C207. 2.1.3 Sand: Shall conform to ASTM C144, except that the gradation shall comply with the following limits: Sieve Size Percent Passing No. 4 100 No. 8 95 - 100 No. 16 60 - 100 No. 30 35 - 70 No. 50 15 - 30 No. 100 2 - 15 No. 200 0 - 2 2.1.4 Water: Shall be clean, potable and free of deleterious amounts of acids, alkalis or organic materials. 2.1.5 Mixing Proportions for Types N and O Mortar Mortar Portland Type S Aggregate Type Cement Hydrated Lime Damp, Loose Condition N 1 1 4-1/2 to 6 O 1 2 6-3/4 to 9 2.1.6 The use of a pre-mixed concrete mix is acceptable but must be submitted for review and approval. 2.1.7 Replacement brick: 2.1.7.1 Salvaged brick without cracks or spalls. 2.1.7.2 New brick to match existing in size, color, and shape. Submit samples for review by Owner.
