Specifications include, but are not limited to: Type of Work: Assist NMDOT Environmental in mapping current roadside vegetation management procedures statewide, interface with NMDOT GIS to transmit information for web map integration, document and develop Best Management Practices (BMPs) for vegetation management, conduct outreach to the public and other land management agencies and document results, update mapping as needed. Posted Route: statewide. Activity I: Interview Area Maintenance Supervisors (AMSs) in each district patrol and capture current procedures utilizing data collection sheet. Enter data in XLM database provided by NMDOT GIS. Field verify data as needed, confirm map accuracy with each AMS. Activity II: Document current Best Management Practices (BMPs) and survey DOT’s in adjacent states for BMPs. Utilize science-based database to evaluate efficacy and safety of herbicide treatments. Utilize evaluation matrix to make recommendations on BMP’s. Record any changes to field practices Activity III: Conduct outreach to land management agencies, tribal entities, Cooperative Weed Management Agencies, local governments to coordinate appropriate treatments. Activity IV: Conduct public outreach in each patrol so that the public can provide input to vegetation management mapping. Document results. Activity V: Provide updates to mapping as needed as a result of public involvement and agency coordination.
