Specifications include, but are not limited to: The quality, dimensions, treatment, and inspection requirements for thermal treated Western Red or Alaskan Yellow Cedar poles. Wood poles shall be furnished in accordance with ANSI 05.1 (or latest revision thereof) and the following provisions: 4.2.1. Species shall be Western Red or Alaskan Yellow Cedar poles. 4.2.2. All poles are to be cut from live, sound, Western Red or Alaskan Yellow Cedar trees. 4.2.3. Seasoning shall be by kiln drying or air seasoning. Moisture content shall be 23% or less after treatment. 4.2.4. All poles shall have a l5o , one-way roof, sloped downward from the face of the pole. 4.2.5. Splits and checks - In the top: A split or a combination of two (2) single checks (each check extending through the pith center and separated by not less than 1/6 of the circumference) having one or both portions located in a vertical plane within 30 degrees of the top bolt hole shall not extend downward along the pole more than four inches (4”). All other combinations of checks or a split shall not extend downward along the pole more than nine inches (9”).
