Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Inspection: A walk through of the facility will be conducted, to identify any factors that may influence the air quality. The investigation includes an inspection of the walls, floors, ceiling, HVAC system(s) and other building components to assess the possibility of mold growth and to determine the source of the irritant. 2. Air Sampling: Microbiological sampling will be conducted using a low volume flow pump and air-o-cell cassettes. Samples will be evaluated for total count and identification of fungi. Air samples also detect fibrous materials, pollens, insect fragments and epithelial cells. 3. Wipe/Tape/Bulk/Sampling: Wipes are taken using cotton tipped swab directly on surfaces. Tape prep sample are taken using a clear adhesive tape directly on visible signs of mold growth. Bulk samples are taken by collecting a piece of the material that exhibits signs of mold growth. Samples will be analyzed to identify fungi. Samples may be obtained through destructive sampling such as obtaining cores of paneling and sheetrock and investigation of baseboard molding.
