Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of this project is to increase trauma-specific mental health services for low-income students negatively affected by trauma. This project is developing a replicable Trauma Recovery Model Program designed to provide secular, neutral, non-ideological trauma-specific mental health treatment to eligible students enrolled in all Nevada public, charter and private schools who demonstrate negative psychological and educational outcomes secondary to trauma exposure. It is anticipated that implementation of an effective Trauma Recovery Model Program will build local capacity to provide, improve and expand services that reduce classroom disruptions, raise social competence, and reduce learning interruptions (e.g., poor attendance, suspensions) by marrying trauma-specific treatment and Restorative Practices in Nevada’s local educational agencies (LEAs). In addition, individual students and their parents are empowered to choose the licensed mental health provider to deliver trauma-specific services who represents the best fit for their needs.
