Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1 Fully cooked and in cans or other aseptic packaging. 2.2 Can be stored on a shelf without having to be refrigerated 2.3 Meal pattern to be followed includes 20 grams of a protein, 1- 1 ½ cups of fruit or vegetable, 2 ounces of whole grains, 1 serving of dairy containing calcium equivalent to (1) - 8 ounce glass of milk 2.3.1 The entrée can incorporate other side items and does not need to be served independently, as long as each meal meets the specified required amount. 2.3.2 Meals shall NOT contain candy and/or jelly to make up the calorie count. 2.3.3 Menu items may be prepared with water. 2.4 Meals are to be packaged in two meals per box. 2.5 Meals must have a shelf life of at least 6 months without refrigeration.
