Provide all materials, equipment, and labor necessary to upgrade pumps and related improvements at the Orion Pump Station in accordance with drawings, specifications and requirements issued herein. Work generally includes removal and replacement of four pumps, motors, and installation of two variable frequency drives, station finished water flow meter, backup generator, and all related support and control systems. Work includes overhead crane installation and related foundation, framing, and related power and control work. Work also includes building door and ventilation modifications and site improvements.
The construction of these improvements for this station under this contract will require a station shutdown/bypass. Shutdown/bypassing the station means that it will be bypassed (via closing valves) to maintain flow to downstream community. The contractor is to submit a station shutdown request 30 days in advance and this request to be reviewed and approved by GLWA. Putting the station in the bypass mode shall be done only between October 15 and April 15 (low demand season) of the following year. Most of the construction activities inside the station will occur during low demand season. This station shutdown/bypass has to be closely coordinated with System Control Center - SCC in order to maintain pressure downstream of the station. Also you may refer to specification section 01 00 10 after page 38 (ORN-1) for additional information.
