Specifications include, but are not limited to: The radar driver feedback sign is a dynamic sign that provide motorists real-time feedback of their vehicle’s speed via radar speed detection. By providing this feedback, it is intended that motorists will better obey the speed limit and overall safety will be enhanced. The vehicle speed shall be detected via radar or microwave module mounted within the sign enclosure. The following sections of this document outline the basic requirements for a 24 x 30 inch radar driver feedback sign. The software shall provide the ability to control signs. The software shall provide a method for a system administrator to create an up-loadable operating schedule for the displays. In addition, the software shall allow a method for retrieving information from the displays such as status and other diagnostic information. Direct control of sign functions such as test patterns, lighting controls and operating modes shall be made possible. The program shall run on Windows 8 and 10, or higher operating system. The control computer must have one free communications port for direct connection to a multi-drop communications interface such as Bluetooth. The software must use Bluetooth installed within the PC. For single sign systems, a direct RS-232 connection shall be used. The main software screen must show the status of all signs configured via the software (updated at 2-second intervals RS-485 or Bluetooth equipped systems, or at hourly intervals when other communications modes are used.) Operator shall have the ability to select hourly status updates to save on power on solar powered systems. All functions shall be selected from the main menu screen. The program must utilize “user friendly,” context sensitive help, hints, and cautions that advise the operator how to use the system.
