Specifications include, but are not limited to: § Designing and constructing collaborative/open team oriented design areas to allow students to construct marketready creations in fabrication and machine shop environments. § Designing and constructing facilities with a visible commitment to sustainability. § Leading client groups through a systematic analysis and resolution of complex design and construction issues. § Implementing time-critical projects on schedule. § Providing timely and accurate cost information integral to the planning process. The Student Design and Experimental Learning Center serves as the business incubator and support center for multi-disciplinary design teams. This project expansion will allow for much needed team/open bay building space. The project will expand to the west increasing the 7,000 sf facility to 15,000 sf. The project site development plan will include a 3,500 sf storage facility for bulk materials and an outdoor team space adjacent to the Design Center expansion. Minor expansions of the current facility are also to be completed to accommodate additional teams including electronics lab and I GEM Lab.
