Specifications include, but are not limited to: Upgrades to the space’s electrical and mechanical systems are necessary to make this lab a state-of-the-art research laboratory. The space is intended to remain an open lab format, but the university has goals to increase the visibility into the lab both from the south wall of the lab and from the building’s atrium. The lab is intended to be a hub for advanced manufacturing, and accommodations must be made to allow researchers to bring in large equipment to support that effort. Additionally, the program identified a potential 2,100 gross square foot building addition, which would provide 1,560 net square feet of added high-bay lab space to support future research needs, as well as a vestibule for improved climate control at the overhead delivery door, and a new mechanical room to serve the added lab space. The addition would encroach into the quad approximately 25 feet from the face of the existing building. Design services will include design for this potential addition
