Specifications include, but are not limited to: - To Provide legal services to include consultation, representation and education to eligible Veterans referred by the City of St. Louis Department of Human Services. If needed, to negotiate pleas and restitution on behalf of veterans - To assist and represent Veterans on legal matters and in some cases their eligible family members who may be unemployed, underemployed, retired, disabled, homeless and may be mentally impaired. - To educate and inform Veterans and accepted clients of their Rights and how the legal process works, including the consequences and limitations of legal representation and litigation. - To obtain and provide consents on behalf of the Veteran clients. - To maintain adequate client files and billings records for monitoring purposes as required by the Dept. of Human Services and Missouri Veterans Commission. - To ensure lawyer/client confidentiality and promote & protect the care, safety and welfare of clients. - To participate in legal clinics at scheduled outreach activities authorized by the Dept. of Human Services, such as annual Veterans Stand Down events, Stand Up for Women Veterans and outreach activities within Veteran’s Administration hospital facilities. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for these activities.
