Specifications include, but are not limited to: Labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, and incidentals necessary for grading approximately 49 miles of minimum maintenance State Forest Roads and approximately 15 hours of grading of public access roads and parking areas in the Aitkin Forestry Area. The majority of work will be located near Hill City and Big Sandy Lake. Specific instructions include: • A motor grader with a minimum of 120 net horsepower and a minimum 12 foot blade length is required. • A minimum of 2 years prior grader operator experience is required. • There is no guaranteed annual minimum for any of the work items in this contract. • The project supervisor shall determine when a road or roads will be graded. • 1 mile of two-pass grading is defined as two passes where road surface is cut and spread on both passes (2 passes total). • 1 mile of three-pass grading is defined as two cutting passes, both sides, and one spreading pass (3 passes total). • Routine maintenance shall include grading the entire treadway (approximately 18 feet wide) and shall include establishment of a 4% crown.
