Create and conduct a two-day (14 hour) law enforcement leadership training class. Currently the class is planned to be held four times between January and May 2017 for BCA's Supervision & Management certification program. This course must provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities which address the following: 1. Types of stress including those that are unique to law enforcement, and it's impact on oneself and others 2. Risk factors and symptoms of stress and it’s influence on employee performance 3. Proactive strategies to assist employees in dealing with the impact stress has on their careers and relationships 4. Methods to build resistance, improve resiliency and enhance recovery from stress and trauma 5. Critical Incident Stress (CIS) teams and dealing with often unique and difficult challenges within the public sector environment 6. Means to help employees manage and control stress in their work environments C. Minimum Qualifications Required 1. Five years' recent experience; 2011 or sooner, as a licensed professional counselor and consultant; specializing in evaluating and attending to the unique psychological needs of emergency management professionals 2. Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Arts (BA) or higher in Critical Incident Management, or a BS/BA with a focus in stress management 3. Two or more years’ experience teaching adult learners 4. Course curriculum development of 2 or more courses for post secondary program D. Desired Skills 1. Master’s level education or above 2. Current/Active Minnesota Licensed Psychologist 3. Five plus years as a trauma specialist and counseling law enforcement personnel as victims of post-traumatic stress 4. Two plus years teaching as in a postsecondary; criminal justice related program.
