Specifications include, but are not limited to: i. Analyze all pier caps for current Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) specifications in its proposed cross section/loads with its original and current condition state for HL-93. Analyze piers using concurrent beam reactions based on reactions found in superstructure model. Analyze the pier caps in both Strut and Tie Method (STM) and Sectional Theory. If requested, Contractor will analyze piers for permit trucks and legal loads. ii. Follow MnDOT Bridge Design Manual Article 4.1 for an intermediate structure for the checking process. Follow guidance provided in the Draft Policy for Analysis of Existing Concrete Pier Caps where applicable. iii. Evaluate pier cap capacity in terms of rating factors and prepare recommendation to the Department for possible strengthening concepts.
