• Conduct brush mowing on up to 70 acres at the Viking 4 Native Prairie Bank Easement (NPB). • Mulch or mow all willow, young aspen, and other brush species up to 6-inch DBH within the areas outlined on the attached maps. All standing woody vegetation will be mulched or mowed to within 4 inches of ground level throughout the indicated sites during non-snow conditions or when snow depth is less than 4 inches. In non-snow conditions, the ground must be frozen before work can commence. • Mulching or mowing will only be allowed up to a maximum snow depth of 18 inches. Mulching and mowing may occur at the snow level when snow depths are between 4 and 10 inches, although all stumps of vegetation with a basal diameter of 3 inches or greater must be ground to within 4 inches of ground level. Vegetation with basal diameters of less than 3 inches may be left cut at snow level. Work will be suspended during snow depths greater than 18 inches and will resume when conditions are again favorable. • The basal diameter and stem densities of willow and young aspen vary greatly within and among the sites. Certain areas may have scattered or dense stands of brush with stem basal diameters less than 1.5 inches. Some areas may have scattered willow or aspen containing stems with basal diameters up to 6 inches. • Equipment required will consist of a tracked skid steer (min. 120 gross engine HP, 45.0 gpm hydraulic flow to cutting head), tracked crawler (min 135 gross engine HP), rotary axe (min. 180 gross engine HP), or mulching tractor. The machine must be equipped with tracks or high flotation tires or a combination thereof; a conventional wheeled machine will not be allowed. Ground pressure of equipment not to exceed 6.0 psi.
